The under 14 tournament will be held in Perth from 7 to 14 January 2012 and the under 16 and under 18 tournament will be held in Geelong from 7 to 18 January 2012.

The National Youth Championships is one of the Australian Baseball Federation’s (ABF) longest-standing events, with eight teams competing in each of the Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18 age categories; Queensland, New South Wales, New South Wales Country, Victoria Blue, Victoria White, South Australia, ACT and Western Australia.

The tournaments attract a combined total of 600 players and up to 1000 supporters to each host venue, as well as baseball scouts from up to 25 US Major League Baseball clubs.

This event is the pinnacle of the junior aspect of baseball in Australia and competition is expected to be tight. 

From the Geelong tournament, the final selections for the AAA Oceania Qualifier Team will be made, travelling to Guam not long after and who would likely be the team nucleus for the 2012 AAA World Championship Team.
